Barracks Trust offers apprentices financial support

People living in Newcastle are being offered financial support so that they can start an apprenticeship, thanks to a collaboration between the Realise Foundation and the Barracks Trust.

Often individuals need help in funding items that they need for their apprenticeship, such as toolkits, textbooks, course fees, childcare and travel costs.

The Barracks Trust is a charitable company which owns the Barracks building in Newcastle. It provides financial assistance to help local people to achieve their goals. This includes gaining a qualification, achieving artistic and sporting excellence or taking part in a life-changing experience.

The trust is working closely with the Realise Foundation to help local communities with apprenticeships.

Apprenticeships are available in a wide range of areas, including warehouse, storage and distribution, engineering, gardening, glazing, management, manufacturing, team leadership, customer service, business administration, IT, retail, childcare, hairdressing, and health and social care.

Will Nixon, trustee of the Realise Foundation, said: “We’re delighted to be working with The Barracks Trust. This collaboration will help assist those who might have been put off going on an apprenticeship during the current economic climate.”

Louise Rogers, Chair of the Barracks Trust said: “We are very pleased to be working with the Realise Foundation – our first joint funding venture.  Together we aim to support those young people whose only barrier to success is a lack of sufficient financial support.”
